dalian research and design institute of chemical industry, formerly known as soda research institute of the ministry of chemical industry, was established in 1959, under the proposal of dr. hou debang, the famous scientist, soda production expert and vice minister of the former ministry of chemical industry, to improve hou’s method to manufacture soda, china’s independent intellectual property. due to constant expansion of specialties in the institute, it was renamed dalian research and design institute of chemical industry of the ministry of chemical industry in may 1994. in 1999, the institute transformed itself from a research unit into an enterprise named the dalian research and design institute of chemical industry, subordinate to china haohua chemical (group) corporation (chc). in 2000, the institute was accredited by dalian municipal commission of science and technology as a high-tech enterprise.
due to vigorous progress in various aspects, the institute specializes in research and development of fine organic chemicals based on items in the core journal fine chemicals, mainly covering high molecular auxiliary agents and additives, surfactants, intermediates in medical and farm chemicals, and biologically active baits for sea cucumbers, and of inorganic chemicals based on items in the core journal sodium carbonate industry, ranging from sodium carbonate, caustic soda and other inorganic salt technologies to waste disposal, chemical plants, and equipment preservation from corrosion. meanwhile, the institute is qualified for engineering consultancy and prospecting design (grade a qualification for chemical engineering design and certificate of design for pressure vessels in categories i, ii, and iii pressure vessel), so it undertakes the design of chemical plants for organic chemicals, inorganic chemicals, petrochemical engineering and bio-chemicals. in addition, the institute owns over 100 key scientific results and technical applications in the chemical industry, over 20 high-tech products with independent intellectual property rights, more than 20 national scientific achievements and the import and export trading rights.
covering an area of 51,000 square meters and a construction area of 25,000 square meters, the institute has dalian haohua chemical co., ltd., dalian dacheng chemical co., ltd. and tianhua company as its subsidiaries. it has an aa credit rating and a credit line of 10 million yuan.
with high-tech enterprise integrating scientific research, design, production, information and trading, the institute is among the provincial list of contract honoring and credit keeping units and the list of civilized units of china haohua chemical (group) corporation (chc).
